Adorable kids stuff

The collaboration of Claudia and Astrid resulted in "onszelf", a store that sells an amazing wallpaper and table cloth (zeil) collection. I know the deer theme is hot and is popping up everywhere but I think it is done really well in this set up. Cute sheets, wallpaper, color palette and amazing photographs. All in all inspiring.

Easter

It has been a little quite here over in my blog world. The little lady, Mr. and I all got really ill over the weekend with a nasty stomach flu. We missed a lot of wonderful plans for the weekend, the KC addy's, a surprise visit from our LA friends (sniff sniff), brunch with friends, a Mardi Gras parade, just to name a few. I will spare you the nasty details of the weekend but I think we are finally on the upward spiral.

That being said, I have been thinking about the next upcoming holiday: Easter! My second favorite (ties with Christmas) holiday.  I am going to try to make a coconut cake lamb this year, I saw it on my one of my friends facebook pictures last year and I have been dreaming about it ever since.
Here are a few other inspiring easter related products that I am currently admiring.

Sick day

It is hard to believe that just minutes after taking this picture, the little lady got really sick. We are taking it easy today with ramen noodles and saltine crackers and lots and lots of fluids so we can be happy and healthy for the weekend.

Let't get ready to shop in Kansas!

When I used to live in Seattle I loved to shop at Madewell- the little sister store of JCrew. Rumor has it that a new store will now open in Leawood, KS, just a hop skip and a jump away. Their collection hits the perfect balance between sophistication and ease. Here are some looks from their collection that I am loving.

The March issue of Lucky Magazine  features one of Madewell's designer homes in Brooklyn. No wonder the designers get inspired. I love the grand bookcase, every book and accessory are placed in the perfect spot.  The grey blue color of the gallery wall is combined with deep walnut wood and a splash of metal- simply a lovely combination of textures and colors. Now, if only I could get my home to look like that.

Coats for Kids (Operation Warmth)

Coats for Kids (Operation Warmth):

My friend Jeannie Gaudette, recently moved to Afghanistan. She is trying to get donations for Coats for Kids. Below, you will find a personal message from her.

Hello from Kabul, Afghanistan,

It has been an unusually cold winter here in Afghanistan and many of the Afghan people do not have coats or shoes to wear. Just last week, over 20 children froze to death in an orphanage not far from where I work here in Kabul.  People are in dire need of winter clothing, especially in the orphanages and women's prisons.  It is truly a crime against humanity to let these people parish solely due to the cold. The Afghans that I have had the please of meeting have been kind, warm, hard working, stoic and generous, and it pains me and most here to know that many are going without basic necessities. So, with that said, I was hoping that some of you might find it in your hearts to donate money for winter jackets, warm socks, shoes, blankets, sweatshirts, and gloves. Everything that gets donated will go directly to "Operation Warmth", an initiative here at my work that goes to local orphanages, shelters and women's prisons to give out basic cold weather wear.
