Sitting Bench

There are a lot of areas in the house that are in need of some serious updates. The color palette used throughout the house is not our style. Going up the staircase, we have a cute little sitting bench.  The colors of the wall are beige and the upholstery used on the bench is a pattern of beige and green.  Mr. P. always asks me to stay away from beige (the apartment I lived in when I met him was beige, beige chairs, beige walls, beige couch). I happened to stumble upon a piece of fabric that was left over from the nursery and decided to attach it to the sitting bench for now.  It looks much better already.

Let's Paint

All the colors in the house are currently green, brown or a combination of the two.  It is too drab and dark for my taste- both Paul and I decided we want to freshen the place up.  What do you think of these sky colors-I think they exude freshness and cleanliness. Although, I have to make sure the whole house doesn't end up blue/grey.

Raking Leafs

This is the very first time I have lived in a house with a yard. The yard looks small, a little patch of grass outside and a couple little patches in front. I was going to start raking the leafs since we have a pick up scheduled for every other wednesday. FOUR hours later, I raked and bagged most of the leafs in the backyard and made a small dent on the front lawn. Phew, that is a lot of work. Next up shuffling snow....

Welcome to Valentine

We just moved into the valentine neighborhood (yay- our very first home). Its an adorable community in mid town Kansas City. Think about 100 year old, large homes with large front porches, streets lined with large trees and the most adorable valentine day signs (see picture below). Its the neighborhood for love and live. I am a modern girl, I love epoxy floors, concrete countertops, lots of light and preferably all white furniture (thanks for schooling me paul),yet I ended up in this old georgian revival style home with mission style woodwork (this still scares me a lot). If you don't know what that is (I certainly didn't), see the picture below. I hope to modernize the home over time and enjoy the ride in the meantime.
